York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution dropped back into a tie for first place in the south division, after getting thumped by the Somerset Patriots, 12-1, in front of 6,319 fans at Commerce Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ, Friday night. Both team's second half records now stand at 5-3. The Revs' three-game win streak was snapped with the loss.

York got on the board in the first inning, as Nate Espy sent a deep fly that carried over the head of rightfielder Elliott Ayala for a triple. Justin Singleton brought Espy in to score on a pop-up to shallow left that fell between the defense for a single.

Somerset went ahead for good, scoring twice in the bottom half of the first inning. Danny Garcia opened with a single to left, and Ayala doubled to right-center. After Chris Steinborn retired Teuris Olivares on a groundout to the mound, he walked the next three, and brought in two runs on wild pitches, before finding the zone to strike out the final two batters of the inning.

The Patriots scored twice more in the third on RBI doubles by Alan Zinter and Travis Anderson, and once more in the fourth on an RBI double by Ayala, chasing Steinborn from the game. The York lefty worked 3.1 innings, his shortest start of the season.

The Patriots added four more in the sixth on a sac fly by Mike Lockwood, a two-run double by Zinter, and a run-scoring two-bagger by Josh Pressley. The final three came across in the eighth on a solo homer by Zinter, and RBI hits by Brandon Larson and Ayala.

Brian Adams limited the Revs to just one run on four hits over eight innings. The Revs were out-hit 18-4 in the loss.
