
Sharks Drop 4th Straight

amden, NJ- The Riversharks tried to battle back Friday night at Campbell's Field, but were unable to get past the Road Warriors for the second night in a row, dropping the game 8-6. The Sharks grinded out a comeback in the seventh, but fell short despite scoring three runs in the inning. Dwight Maness hit his 15th homer of the season in the loss.
The Road Warriors got out to another quick start, scoring six runs in the first inning off Sharks starter Ryan Schurman. Ian Bladergroen knocked out a three-run homer to center, his fifth of the season.
Camden threw two runs up in the bottom of the second. Newly acquired Cristian Guerrero singled then advanced on a passed ball. Rene Aqueron singled as well, then stole second while Guerrero was able to slide into home. Aqueron would score on an error by the third baseman David Housel who overthrew to first attempting to tag out Denny Abreu.
Bladergroen scored again for the Warriors putting them up 7-2 in the third. Camden answered back with a Dwight Maness home run, his 15th of the season.
The Riversharks made things interesting in the seventh, scoring three runs off reliever Casey Cahill to pull within two runs. Josh Noviskey and Aqueron singled and Pete Shier reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. LJ Biernbaum stepped up to bat, and ended up walking in a run, scoring Noviskey. Aqueron scored on an error by the shortstop trying to tag out Maness at first. Shier scored on the put-out of Matt Demarco, making the score 8-6.
Camden would grind it out for the comeback win, but it wasn't enough against the Warriors closer Benito Baez, who struck out Shier and Maness in the ninth to end the game.
Sharks starter Schurman (4-5) picked up the loss, while Warriors starter Darwin Soto (2-3)picked up the win and Baez earned his second save of the season.
The South Division First Half Champion Riversharks (2-6, 41-30) continue their homestand tomorrow night against the Road Warriors (4-4, 21-50) at 7:05 pm.
