Yard Goats Lose Homestand Finale to Somerset

Hartford, CT - The Somerset Patriots cranked four home runs and got solid pitching en route to a 10-3 victory over Hartford Yard Goats on Sunday afternoon at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Somerset smashed four homers over the first four innings and completed a six-game sweep in Hartford. Hartford's bullpen held Somerset to just two runs over the final six innings. The Yard Goats are off tomorrow and start a six-game road trip in Portland, Maine on Tuesday. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, June 1st to host the Bowie Baysox.

The Patriots scored three runs in the first inning on four singles off Hartford starter Will Gaddis. Isiah Gilliam had an RBI single scoring Michael Beltre for the first run of the game. Later in the inning, Max Burt ripped a two-out two-run single, scoring Dermis Garcia and Gilliam to make it 3-0 Somerset.

The Yard Goats made it a one-run game by scoring twice on a pair of errors in the bottom half of the first inning. Matt McLaughlin scored from third base on starting pitcher Matt Krook's wild pickoff attempt at first base. Then, Jameson Hannah scored from third base on shortstop Oswaldo Cabrera's throwing error to make it a 3-2 game.

Somerset added three runs in the second inning highlighted by back-to-back home runs. Evan Alexander led off the inning with his first homer of the season, and Oswaldo Cabrera followed with a solo shot over the left field fence to make it 5-1. The Patriots made it 6-1 on a sacrifice fly by Oliver Dunn. Somerset added on with a two-run homer by Michael Beltre in the third inning and a two-run blast by Max Burt in the fourth.

The Yard Goats bullpen of Nate Harris, Zach Matson, Reagan Todd and Julian Fernandez pitched well and surrendered just two runs in the final six innings of the game.

The Yard Goats begin a six-game road trip in Portland, Maine on Tuesday night (6:00 PM) against the Red Sox affiliate at Hadlock Field. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com.
