Hartford, Conn - The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services hosted the first ever Independence Day Naturalization Ceremony at Dunkin' Donuts Park this afternoon prior to the Yard Goats game against the Portland Sea Dogs. 50 Connecticut residents took the oath to become United States Citizens in a ceremony which took place on the playing field. United States Senator Richard Blumenthal and Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin were part of the ceremony.

22 Nations and 31 Connecticut cities and towns were represented in the Oath of Allegiance. The Naturalization Ceremony included the Governor's Foot Guard, National Anthem, Oath of Allegiance, Pledge of Allegiance, and the honorees received certificates acknowledging their United States citizenship.

"We are honored to have been a part of such a patriotic and moving Naturalization Ceremony today at Dunkin' Donuts Park," said Yard Goats President Tim Restall. "Baseball is America's National Pastime and what a better way to welcome in 50 new US Citizens than at a Yard Goats home game in Hartford. Having the opportunity to host this event on America's birthday is particularly special for our team."

The Hartford Yard Goats continue the homestand at Dunkin' Donuts Park tomorrow night (7:05 PM) and host the Boston Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs. Tickets for all home games are on sale by calling 860-246-GOAT (4628), by visiting online at www.yardgoatsbaseball.com, or in person at the Click It or Ticket Box Office at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
