Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Bowie Baysox won a walk-off over the Harrisburg Senators 7-6 in 10 innings Wednesday night at Prince George's Stadium. The Senators led 5-0 early, but the Baysox rallied for the Independence Day victory.
The Senators scored their first run in the second without recording a hit. Zach Collier led off the inning with a walk moved to third on a wild pitch and a groundout before scoring on a ground ball to third by Osvaldo Abreu.
Harrisburg expanded the lead with four runs in the third. After Carter Kieboom doubled and Dan Gamache singled him home to start the frame, Drew Ward hit a two-run home run to right, his eighth of the season. The next batter, Austin Davidson, followed with a solo shot to right, his sixth of the year, giving the Senators back-to-back home runs for the first time since August 10, 2017, also against Bowie.
Bowie scored their opening on an RBI single by Ademar Rifaela in the third. They added another in the sixth when Anderson Feliz singled in a run, however Senators starting pitcher Sterling Sharp stranded the bases loaded in the frame when he struck out the final batter, Erick Salcedo.
The Baysox cut the lead to one with a pair of runs in the seventh when Anderson Feliz singled in a pair of runners.
Bowie finished the comeback when Rifaela and Ryan Mountcastle hit back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the ninth off Senators reliever Kaleb Fleck to tie the game at 5-5.
That sent the game into extras, where the Senators struck first in the 10th. With the bases loaded and one out, Alec Keller knocked a sacrifice fly to put the Senators on top 6-5.
The lead was short lived as the Baysox won the game in the bottom of the frame. Corban Joseph singled in the free-runner, Darby Myers, to tie the game. With Joseph at third after a single by Mountcastle, Aderlin Rodriguez hit a walk-off single to send the Baysox to the 7-6 victory.
Fleck (4-4) suffered the loss after surrendering three runs, two earned, in two innings of relief. Branden Kline (2-2) picked up the win after he allowed an unearned run in the tenth.
Neither starter received a decision. Sharp limited Bowie to two runs, one earned, on eight hits while striking out three and walking two across six innings. Bowie starter Christian Binford surrendered five runs, four earned, on seven hits over three frames.
Davidson led the Senators offense, finishing 3-5 with a home run and a double, as seven of the nine Senators position players recorded at least one hit.
The Senators and Baysox continue the series Thursday night. Logan Darnell takes the ball for the Senators opposite Bowie starter Brian Gonzalez. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Prince George's Stadium. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Harrisburg 96.5 & 95.3 FM and 1400 AM or at www.cbssportsharrisburg.com beginning at 6:50 p.m.
