Fisher Cats Can't Hold Early 3-0 Lead on Fourth of July

Manchester, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) scored three times in the bottom of the first inning, but the Reading Fightin' Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) rallied for a 5-3 win on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

The Fisher Cats (48-35) led 1-0 after Jon Berti reached on a hit-by-pitch and scored on a triple by Connor Panas. Harold Ramirez followed with a walk and Reading made a pair of errors on his steal attempt, allowing two runners to score.

Reading (37-47) cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the second inning. Darick Hall walked and Zach Green doubled. Jan Hernandez knocked in the first run with a single, and a sacrifice fly by Deivi Grullon plated the other run.

The Fightin Phils tied the game in the top of the seventh inning. Jan Hernandez doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on another Grullon sacrifice fly.

Reading had two batters reach on walks in the top of the eighth inning. Two wild pitches and a base hit by Zach Green broke the tie and gave Reading a 5-3 lead.

Justin Dillon started for the Fisher Cats, allowing two runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out three, but did not figure in the decision. Zach Jackson (L, 2-2) took the loss in relief.

With four scoreless innings in relief, Edgar Garcia (W, 6-2) earned the win.

Panas led New Hampshire's offense with his RBI triple, finishing 1-for-4.

The five-game series continues on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. LHP Tayler Saucedo is scheduled to make his first Double-A start for New Hampshire.
