RUMBLE PONIES WRESTLE RUBBER GAME FROM SEA DOGS: Justin Dunn gave up two hits in 7.2 innings, leading Binghamton to a 2-1 series-deciding win at Portland Tuesday night. Both teams collected a first-inning run, but the Ponies eighth-inning tally proved to be the difference. The Rumble Ponies take the five-game set, three games to two.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Mickey Jannis makes his 13th start of the season and team-leading fifth against Erie. Jannis picked up his first win since May 25 last week, going seven innings at Portland. After allowing two first inning runs (both unearned), he held the Sea Dogs bats in check the rest of the way. Jannis is 2-0 in his four outings against Erie.
A NEW 'ERA': Justin Dunn's performance helped lower the Rumble Ponies starters ERA under 5.00 for the first time since June 19. His effort moved the ERA to 4.93 for the season.
FANTASTIC FIVE: In Tuesday's win, the first five batters in Binghamton's lineup combined to go 8-for-20 with both RBI and runs scored. The bottom four went 1-for-10 with 3 K.
SAVING GRACE: After going 19 straight games without a save, the Rumble Ponies have earned two in the last five games. Last night, Daniel Zamora picked up his first save of the season, completing Binghamton's 2-1 win.
YOU'RE AN ALL-STAR: Tim Tebow, Levi Michael, Nabil Crismatt, Daniel Zamora, and Patrick Mazeika will represent the Rumble Ponies at the All-Star Classic, hosted by the Trenton Thunder on July 10 & 11. It marks the second straight season Binghamton sends five to the All-Star Game. All five Ponies will enjoy their first trip to the Eastern League All-Star Game. Zamora and Mazeika played in the FSL All-Star Game last year.
ALLENTOWN: Josh Allen had a hit in each game of the five-game series at Portland, finishing 7-for-19. He has a hit in 14 of 17 games since being signed by the Mets and is hitting .326 on the road.
TOMAS DOING MAS: Tomas Nido stretched his season-long hitting streak to eight games behind a 1-for-4 performance on Monday. He's hitting .310 over the last 10 games, with hits in eight of them.
SEA-ING ERIE: The Rumble Ponies and SeaWolves met 12 times in the first two months of the season, with Binghamton holding a nine games to three advantage. The last meeting was back on May 31, an 11-10 Erie win. The Ponies have won all four series'.
UP NEXT: Binghamton continues its five-game battle with Erie on Thursday evening. RHP Alex Faedo tosses for the Sea Dogs with first pitch at NYSEG Stadium scheduled for 6:35 PM. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-game Show starts at 6:20 on NewsRadio 1290 WNBF.
