Florence Y'alls News Release
FLORENCE, Ky. - Key performances from the middle of the Florence Y'alls order helped lift them over the Lake Erie Crushers on Thursday night at Y'alls Ballpark to take the mid-week series. The franchise celebrated the 100-year anniversary of the Negro Leagues, giving away a Satchel Paige bobblehead to the first 1,000 fans.
For the second consecutive night, the Y'alls struck with a crooked number in the bottom of the first inning, this time in a 4-0 hole. Luis Pintor started the threat with a triple, followed by a Chad Sedio single and a two-run homerun from Trevor Craport.
In his first professional start, Florence starter Casey Grimm tossed five strong innings, striking out three Lake Erie batters. Grimm earned the win despite allowing four runs in the first inning. The lefty settled in nicely, allowing just one hit to the final 11 batters he faced.
Pintor and Craport highlighted the night offensively for the Y'alls. Pintor had a triple, double and home run in his first three at-bats and had two more plate appearances to complete the cycle, ultimately falling short with a pair of fly outs. Craport hit his 11th and 12th home runs of the season, moving him to the top of the leader board in the Frontier League in that category.
Andrew McDonald came in for the save in the ninth inning with a 9-6 lead. After giving up a two-run homer to Isaac Benard, McDonald closed the door for his fourth save of the season.
With the win, Florence moves up to 10 games over .500 once again with a 24-14 record. Lake Erie falls to 20-18.
