
X's Win 9-4 In Ten Innings Vs Railcats

The Sioux City Explorers kept their winning streak alive, scoring five runs in the top half of the tenth to win 9-4 in extra innings. Gary Southshore put up three runs right away in the first to take the quick 3-0 lead at U.S. Steel Yard.
In the third, Matty Johnson scored the first run for the X's, reaching first off an error and later scoring off an RBI double by Michael Lang. Explorers first baseman Rene Tosoni knocked in Lang from second on the next at-bat to cut the lead to 3-2 after three innings.
Sioux City got the bats rolling in the seventh, plating three runs to take the lead 4-3. Brock Kjeldgaard smacked a one out double and scored on a Noah Perio base-hit to tie it. Perio went went on to score on the next at-bat as well, off an RBI double by X's second baseman Ryan Court.
In the bottom half of the ninth, Railcats designated hitter Drew Martinez reached base on balls, moved to second off a walked batter and scored on a Adam Taylor RBI single to send it into extra innings.
The Sioux City Explorers went on to take the ball game by storm in the tenth, plating five runs and go on to win 9-4 at U.S. Steel Yard. Matty Johnson and Michael Lang both had RBI singles in the inning, Rene Tosoni knocked in a run off a fielders choice, and designated hitter Brock Kjeldgaard smacked a two run home run to give them nine runs in the contest.
Explorers starter Ryan Zimmerman got the no decision going 6.1 solid innings, allowing three runs (one earned), on five hits, four walks and five strikeouts. Right-hander Jose Flores received the win, going an inning and allowing a run.
Railcats starter Fernando Gonzalez got the no decision going 4.0 innings with two runs allowed. Left-hander Andy Loomis was charged with the loss giving up the five runs that were scored in the tenth inning.
Brock Kjeldgaard was the big hitter tonight for Sioux City, going 2 for 5 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. X's right fielder Michael Lang also brought it tonight at the plate, having three hits, alongside a double, two RBIs and run scored.
