Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release
PITTSBURGH, FEB. 14, 2006 -- The visiting Indiana Alley Cats defeated the Pittsburgh Xplosion 131-119, led by ABA All Star Chandler Thompson, who had 30 points and 13 rebounds. Chris Acker led the Xplosion with 23 points and DeVaughn Halsel added 20 as Pittsburgh fell to 16-11. The Xplosion played without starting center Armon Gilliam, who suffered a minor injury at the ABA All Star game last weekend. Despite Gilliam's absence, the Xplosion trailed by just 2 points, 60-58, at halftime. Indiana pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Pittsburgh 43 to 25.
The game against Indiana, the ABA's top team with a record of 24-2, marked the debut of Eric Mobley, a former star for the University of Pittsburgh and a 1st Round NBA Draft pick of the MIlwaukee Bucks in 1994. Mobley scored 2 points in limited action. The Xplosion aim to rebound against the Toledo Ice this Friday, Feb. 17, at Mellon Arena. Tip off is 7 p.m.
