THE LEAD OFF: The Power handled the Lexington Legends on Tuesday evening at Whitaker Bank Ballpark 8-2. The Power jumped out to the early lead with a pair in the first on a Reese McGuire two-RBI single. McGuire plated another run in the third followed by RBI doubles from Maximo Rivera and Jeff Roy. Lexington tallied one in the bottom half on a Mauricio Ramos solo blast but West Virginia responded with two more in the fourth keyed by an Erich Weiss two-RBI hit. Cody Dickson allowed just one run over five innings with eight strikeouts to earn the win while Matt Alvarez was charged with the loss.

ARCH RIVALS: The Power have played Lexington more than any other opponent during their nine previous seasons. The cross-division rivals have played 190 times since the start of the 2005 season. West Virginia leads the all-time series 97-94, including a 7-10 record this season. The Power are 5-4 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in 2014 and have a 57-44 all-time record at Lexington's home park.

POWER DOWN: The 2014 edition of the West Virginia Power is on pace to hit franchise-low number of home runs. The 2011 club played 138 games and hit 63 home runs for an average of 0.46 home runs per game. The 2014 version has 57 long balls after 130 games, putting them on pace to hit 60 out this season (on a 0.44 per game average). The 2007 club finished with a franchise-record 128 home runs over 136 games (0.94 per game).

FLORIDA STATE SWEEP: Two members of West Virginia's 2013 squad were honored in the Florida State League on Tuesday night. Tyler Glasnow was named Florida State League Pitcher of the Year while Josh Bell was named the league's Player of the Year. Glasnow has posted a 12-5 record in Bradenton in 2014 with a 1.67 ERA over 118.1 innings with 148 strikeouts. Bell, currently with double-A Altoona, hit .335 in 84 games with the Marauders with nine home runs and 53 runs batted in.

LEGENDS OF THE FALL: Of eight Pittsburgh Pirates prospects named to the Arizona Fall League on Tuesday, seven are former Power players. Josh Bell, Tyler Glasnow, Elias Diaz, Dan Gamache, Nick Kingham, Tom Harlan and Joely Rodriguez were all named to the Scottsdale Scorpions roster to play with prospects from the Yankees, Mets, Giants and Phillies.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY: The West Virginia Power have seen more openings lost in 2014 due to rain than any other season in Power history. With two games cancelled due to rain over the past week, the Power have seven openings lost in 2014. West Virginia lost six in 2013, 2009, 2008 and 2006.

POWER PROMO UPDATE- AUGUST 29: The Power battle the second-half Southern Division champ Asheville Tourists on Saturday, August 29 at Appalachian Power Park. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Gregory Polanco bobblehead and there will be a postgame fireworks show.

POWER POINTS: With five games remaining in the month of August, West Virginia has posted a 13-9 record in the month. The Power have surpassed the most wins in a single month this season. The best record prior to this month was July when the Power went 11-17... The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted right-hander Felipe Gonzalez to Bradenton on Wednesday. In exchange the Pirates promoted right-hander Jake Burnette to the Power roster. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh placed JaCoby Jones on the Power Disabled List. Jones was two home runs shy of tying the Power single-season record of 24. To fill the open spot, the Pirates activated catcher Francisco Diaz from the Disabled List.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh bested the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2 at PNC Park. Ike Davis homered in the eight to give Pittsburgh the win ... Indianapolis topped Louisville 5-2... Altoona snuck past Richmond 3-2. Carlos Paulino singled home the winning run in the sixth ... Bradenton fell to Fort Myers7-4. Jacob Stallings was 2-4 with a double and three runs batted in in the Marauders loss ... Jamestown bested Auburn 4-1. Chase Simpson homered in his second consecutive game.
