Lexington Responds after Rain, Downs Power

(Charleston, WV- August 27, 2014)- The West Virginia Power fell to the Lexington Legends 4-3 on Wednesday evening at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. After an hour and a half rain delay, Lexington scored three in the second and never looked back to set up a rubber match on Thursday.

The Legends poured on three runs in the second inning when Dex Kjerstad singled home a run followed by a two-RBI single off the bat of Alexis Rivera.

West Virginia cut the lead to two when a fielder's choice plated Erich Weiss in the fifth inning, but Lexington put the game out of reach with a run in the seventh on a Dominique Taylor RBI double. The Power did tally a pair of runs in the ninth when Erich Weiss tripled in Reese McGuire and Maximo Rivera brought home a score with a sacrifice fly.

Dovydas Neverauskas (6-11) was charged with the loss while Niklas Stephenson (1-0) earned the win and Tim Hill (8) tallied the save. Austin Meadows extended his hit streak to seven games in the Power loss.

West Virginia visits the Lexington Legends on Thursday, August 28, at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Luis Heredia will start against the Legends Luis Rico.
