Greensboro, NC - The Delmarva Shorebirds dropped the second game of their series with the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 11-2 on Wednesday evening. Greensboro pounded Delmarva late to turn a close game into a blowout finish.

Early on, both starters looked sharp in a low-scoring game. Jose Adames, the Greensboro starter, struck out ten batters in five innings. Janser Severino was humming along with one run allowed in his first five innings. Delmarva led 2-1 thanks to a two-run double by Chance Sisco in the fourth.

Severino unraveled in the sixth inning as Greensboro retook the lead. Carlos Lopez scored the tying run on a wild pitch, then J.T. Riddle lined a two-out single to score two runs. Greensboro led 4-2 after six innings.

The Grasshoppers then pummelled the Shorebirds' relief corps in the seventh and eighth innings. Greensboro scored four runs off Garrett Cortright in the seventh, then three more off Nick Cunningham in the eighth.

Severino fell to 3-4 with his second straight loss, while Ryan Wertenberger earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief.

The Shorebirds play their final road game of the season on Thursday evening. Left-hander Luis Gonzalez (6-3, 4.42) starts against Greensboro lefty Jarlin Garcia (9-5, 4.55). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm at NewBridge Bank Park.
