Inside-The-Park Home Run Beats Claws 3-2

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Evan Van Hoosier's inside-the-park home run in the top of the 8th inning put Hickory ahead and the Crawdads topped the BlueClaws 3-2 on Wednesday night at FirstEnergy Park.

Van Hoosier's home run was his 11th on the season and second inside-the-park home run in the last eight days. Nick Rodesky (0-1) allowed the home run and took the loss.

Angelo Leclerc (3-4) threw 2.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts to earn the win while Jose Valdespina threw a scoreless 9th inning for his 8th save of the year.

Hickory (36-29/77-57) has won the first two games of the series while the BlueClaws (23-40/50-82) have dropped their last four games.

Hickory scored a 1st inning run on a wild pitch that brought home Evan Van Hoosier, who tripled with one out.

The BlueClaws tied the game in the 3rd inning on a Mitch Walding home run, his 7th of the season after he hit one in each of the first two years of his career.

An Andrew Knapp RBI double in the 6th inning put the BlueClaws up 2-1.

Lakewood starter Jon Prosinski got a no-decision in his final start of the year, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings. Prosinski allowed three earned runs in 26 innings over his final four starts of the season.

The series, and the BlueClaws home schedule, concludes on Thursday night at 7:05. LHP Yoel Mecias (1-2, 3.60) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Tyler Smith (7-5, 3.78).
