PREVIEW: The Shorebirds won the series opener in Greensboro thanks to a fantastic pitching performance. Mitch Horacek allowed one run on four hits in seven innings, retiring the final 14 batters he faced. Derrick Bleeker allowed a two-run home run in the ninth inning, but he bounced back to finish off the victory.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Jose Adames will start the middle game for Greensboro. The Grasshoppers' right-hander has gone 1-2 with a 3.41 ERA in eight appearances (seven starts) for Greensboro. Adames has made one start against Delmarva before, pitching three scoreless innings back on August 4th at Perdue Stadium. His most recent outing was two shutout innings in relief at Lake- wood on August 24th.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Tampa Bay Rays by the final score of 4-2. Caleb Joseph collected two RBIs in the win, while Zach Britton locked up his 28th save of the year. The O's are now back to 20 games over .500 at 75-55, and with a Yankees loss to Detroit, Balti- more's lead in the AL East is back to seven games.

RACE FOR A BATTING TITLE: Two Shorebirds are in the running for the league batting title at year's end. Chance Sisco (.336) and Drew Dosch (.315) are both in the top 8 in the South Atlantic League among qualifying hitters in batting average. Willians Astudillo leads the league with a .338 batting average, two points ahead of Sisco in second place. On Tuesday, Sisco went 2-for-5 while Astudillo went 1-for-4.

The Shorebirds' Opening Day starter was pro- moted to the Frederick Keys last week, tossing six shutout innings in his Carolina League debut. The left-hander leads Delmarva with nine wins. Brault leads the league in WHIP at 1.04, and he is 2nd in opponents' batting average (.227) and 4th in strikeouts (115). His 3.05 ERA ranks 6th in SAL.

WHO'S HOT - ANTHONY CARONIA

The Shorebirds' second baseman went 3-for- 4 on Tuesday night, raising his batting aver- age to .374 on the season. Caronia does not have enough at-bats to qualify for a batting title, having missed 7 weeks due to injury.

WHO ELSE - GREGORY LORENZO

The Shorebirds outfielder swiped another base on Saturday night, now 42 steals on the season. With 40 steals with Delmarva in 2013, and 6 in 2012, Lorenzo is the franchise record holder with 88 career stolen bases.
