THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia lost 11-4 on Saturday night to Delmarva. The Shorebirds scored five runs in the third inning, three of which were earned, off Power starter Justin Topa and knocked the right-hander from the game. West Virginia cut in to the deficit in the fifth with a pair of runs, but Delmarva added a run in the sixth and five more in the ninth against the Power bullpen. West Virginia added a run in the eighth and one in the ninth of a solo home run by Elvis Escobar, but only managed six hits in the game while striking out 13 times. Topa took the loss and Jon Kellar picked up the win.

11: West Virginia's home losing streak has reached eleven straight after Saturday night's loss. The Power were swept at Appalachian in back-to-back series against Kannapolis and Hagerstown from April 21-27 and lost all three against Savannah from May 7-9. It is the longest such streak in franchise history, surpassing the previous record of seven in a row during May of the 2008 season.

FOWL FRIENDS: West Virginia and Delmarva continue their first series of the year this afternoon; game two of 15 between the clubs in 2014. The Power and Shorebirds have played each other 120 times since 2005 and Delmarva tied the series at 60 wins apiece with Saturday's victory. The Power hold a 38-30 mark at home against the 'Birds, the South Atlantic League affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles since 1997. That affiliation is the second longest pairing in the league, trailing only Asheville's tenure with Colorado (1994).

NINE TO A DIME: Reese McGuire's hitting streak has reached ten consecutive games thanks to an eighth inning double Saturday night. The catcher is hitting .375 with 14 hits over his last 40 at bats since May 7.

OH SNAP: Harold Ramirez's hitting streak was stopped at six in a row after going 0-3 with two walks. The outfielder has still reached safely in seven straight since returning from a month-long stint on the Power Disabled List.

DOUBLE-A CALL: Kawika Emsley-Pai was promoted to Double-A Altoona earlier today. The catcher has appeared in 10 games for the Power this season after spending portions of 2011 and 2013 with the club. Once he plays for the Curve, it will mark the highest level he has reached in his five year career. Emsley-Pai also made his first career appearance in a game at first base, spelling Edwin Espinal on Wednesday.

ONE-RUN DOWN: The Power are now 7-12 in one-run games this season after falling three times by one during the seven game road trip. West Virginia also won once by one during the swing through South Carolina and Georgia. Nine of the other 13 South Atlantic League clubs have now played in one-run games ten or more times this season, though none have played as many as the Power. Kannapolis is second with 15 one-run games (8-7 record).

OVER-UNDER: For the first time this season, the Power's starting rotation has a combined earned run average that is less than the collective of the Power bullpen. Two earned runs charged to the relievers on Thursday raised the bullpen ERA to 4.09. Six shutout innings by Buddy Borden lowered the rotation's combined ERA to 3.96 at that point.

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 20: West Virginia hosts Delmarva at 10:30 am on Tuesday. It is the second and final Grand Slam School Day of the season at Appalachian Power Park.

POWER POINTS: Henry Hirsch and Michael Ryan were each ejected last night. It was the second time Ryan was tossed this year and the second time a player was ejected from a game... Francisco Diaz was promoted from Jamestown to take Kawika Emsley-Pai's spot on the roster after a promotion to Altoona.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: The Pirates fell to the New York Yankees, 7-1. Starling Marte provided Pittsburgh's only offense with a solo blast. Pittsburgh and New York will play two today... Indianapolis dropped a 6-5 final against Gwinnett.. Altoona shutout Richmond, 3-0... The Curve were powered by home runs from Stetson Allie and Alen Hansen... Bradenton lost 5-1 to Dunedin. A Max Moroff RBI double was Bradenton's only offense.

ON THE AIR: West Virginia Power games can be heard on Charleston's ESPN 104.5 FM and 1490 AM in Charleston, online at wvpower.com and on the TuneIn Radio App. Adam Marco will call the action for all 140 games and will be joined by Jake Corrigan when the team plays at Appalachian Power Park.
