GreenJackets Stumble to Grasshoppers

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (20-23) lost the second game of the series to the Greensboro Grasshoppers (23-19) on Sunday afternoon, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The Grasshoppers beat the GreenJackets 2-0.

Greensboro's starting pitcher, Max Garner, virtually shut down the GreenJackets offense. In eight innings, he allowed one hit and struck out seven.

The GreenJackets recorded two hits in the entire game. Tyler Horan singled to right field in the second inning and Christian Paulino singled to third base in the ninth.

Due to Chase Johnson being on the disable list, the GreenJackets started a new pitcher, Chris Johnson. Johnson pitched two innings and allowed two runs.

Greensboro scored both runs in the second inning. Carlos Lopez began the inning with a single to center field. After Kentrell Dewitt walked, Javier Lopez was hit by a pitch. With the bases loaded Carlos Lopez scored on a ground out by Sharif Othman. Kentrell Dewitt plated the second run on a ground out by Yefri Perez.

Steven Messner, Carlos Alvarado and Jake Smith pitched relief for the GreenJackets. Together they allowed five hits, two walks and struck out five.
