PREVIEW: The Shorebirds' offense ignited an 11-4 win over West Virginia with a pair of five-run innings in the series opener. Mike Yastrzemski and Chance Sisco each hit a home run as Delmarva put up their highest run total for a game in 2014. The Shorebirds have won 9 of their last 11 games, having reached 3 games over .500 for the 1st time this season.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Dovydas Neverauskas will start for West Virginia on Sunday afternoon. Neverauskas has put together a 2-1 record with a 4.94 ERA in seven starts so far this season. The right-hander won his first two starts for the Power, but has not won since April 13th. The native of Lithuania pitched for the Jamestown Jammers in 2012, going 4-4 with a 4.01 ERA in 15 starts. The Pittsburgh Pirates signed Neverauskas as an international free agent in 2009.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles lost 1-0 to the Kansas City Royals on Saturday night. Roy- als' starter Danny Duffy took a perfect game into the seventh inning. The O's loaded the bases in the ninth, but Nelson Cruz struck out to end the game. Baltimore is now tied with the New York Yankees for 1st place in the AL East with matching 22-19 records.

THE IRON IS HOT: 19 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

WHO'S HOT/WHO ELSE

CHANCE SISCO | C

On Saturday night, Chance Sisco hit his first home run of the season, and just his second as a pro. The Shorebirds' catcher went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs in the 11-4 victory. Sisco is currently work- ing on a modest six-game hitting streak, his longest stretch of the year. Sisco, the Orioles' 2nd round pick in 2013, is now batting .263 on the season.

WHO'S HOT - JIMMY YACABONIS

Through his first 13 appearances, the Del- marva closer has yet to allow a run. Yacabo- nis is perfect 10-for-10 in save opportunities with a 1-0 record. In 14.0 innings, Yacabonis has struck out 19 batters.

WHO ELSE - DREW DOSCH

In Kannapolis, Dosch hit his first two home runs of the season. On Friday, Dosch's two- run blast gave the Shorebirds a 4-2 in extra innings. The third baseman leads the team with a .308 batting average on the year.
