Power Finally Win at Home behind Dominant Pitching

(Charleston, WV- May 18, 2014) - The West Virginia Power snapped an 11-game home losing skid on Sunday afternoon with a 7-0 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds at Appalachian Power Park. Power pitchers Dovydas Neverauskas, Clario Perez and Miguel Rosario combined to pitch a shutout and Francisco Diaz blasted a two-run homer to lift West Virginia to victory.

The Power got on the board first in the third inning on a sacrifice fly from Reese McGuire scoring Justin Maffei. West Virginia pushed the lead out in the fifth when Francisco Diaz blasted his first home run of the season over the right field fence.

The Power tacked on two more in the sixth behind an RBI double off the bat of Erich Weiss and another when Danny Collins brought home Harold Ramirez on a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

Power starter Dovydas Neverauskas (3-1) earned the win, pitching five scoreless innings while scattering four hits with two strikeouts. Shorebirds hurler Hunter Harvey (2-3) was charged with the loss. Reese McGuire extended his hit streak to 11 games and Justin Maffei went 3-for-3 in the game with three runs scored.
