Ray: Allowed three runs on eight hits over 5.0 IP with 4 K on 8/28 vs. ROM (6-4 Legends)
McRae: Surrendered one run on five hits over 6.0 IP with BB and 4 K in 8/28 W @ AUG (5-1 Power)
THE LEADOFF: After the Legends rallied with a run in the eighth and ninth innings, the Power won on a walkoff single in the bottom of the tenth inning from Connor Joe in a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night at Appalachian Power Park. Elvis Escobar gave the Power a 2-0 lead when he tucked a homer inside the right field foul pole and after Power starter Yeudy Garcia exited, reliever Jose Regalado suffered his fourth blown save of the season. In the tenth, Kevin Newman reached on a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and Joe hit a first-pitch single to right to give the Power its sixth walkoff of the year. Garcia took a no-decision after five shutout innings and a career-high five walks.
RECORD WATCH: With six games left, the Power have 82 wins overall, matching the most in any one season. The 2007 club originally set franchise record and that total was matched in 2013. Following this series against Lexington, West Virginia wraps up the regular season with five games in Kannapolis. West Virginia has won 47 games at home this season, the most in franchise history.
TWO GOOD: Tuesday saw the South Atlantic League announce the selection of the 2015 Postseason All-Star Team. Yeudy Garcia was tabbed as both the "Most Outstanding Pitcher" and the "Top Right-Handed Pitcher". Garcia is 12-5 and leads the league with a 2.01 ERA. Power right fielder Michael Suchy was named one of the outfielders as voted on by the league's field managers, coaches, general managers, sportswriters, and media relations staff. Suchy, a fifth round selection by the Pirates last season, is hitting .277 with ten home runs and 73 RBIs, the second most in the circuit.
FALL GUYS: On Tuesday afternoon, the Pirates announced the players who will be participating in the Arizona Fall League. Five former Power players will participate in the prestigious fall league including catcher Reese McGuire, outfielder Austin Meadows, and pitchers Cody Dickson and Brett McKinney. Robby Rowland, who pitched for the Power in 2012 and 2014 will also participate as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals organization. The Pirates prospects will play for the Glendale Desert Dogs while Rowland will play for the Surprise Saguaros.
SEPTEMBER CALL-UPS: The Pittsburgh Pirates expanded their roster on Tuesday and promoted former West Virginia catcher Elias Diaz. Diaz spent two seasons with the Power in 2011 and 2012, then broke out last season in Double-A with a .328 clip. This season, Diaz was hitting .271 in 93 games with Indianapolis.
FAB FIVE: In each of the last seven games, every Power starter has left after at least five innings. During this stretch, starters are 3-1 with a 1.04 ERA (5 ER/43.1 IP).
TRUE LEGENDS: The Power own a 15-4 record against the Legends this season with onee games left to go against the Kansas City Royals affiliate. West Virginia owns a 113-99 all-time record against the Legends since 2005, including a 51-52 mark against Lexington at Appalachian Power Park.
PROMO UPDATE- SEPTEMBER 9: The Power will host the first game of the 2015 Northern Division Championship Series against the Hickory Crawdads on Wednesday, September 9. All fans will receive a free general admission ticket when picked up at least a day in advance (maximum of ten tickets). The free tickets are courtesy of Suddenlink, Proud Eagle, Thomas Hospital, MVB Bank, and the Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau.
POWER POINTS: The Power front office unveiled a new tertiary logo on Wednesday. This logo will be used on new road and alternate hats starting in 2016...Francisco Diaz' 12-game hit streak matches the longest in his pro career...The playoff berth for West Virginia is its fourth in franchise history and second as an affiliate of the Pirates (2013).
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: The Pirates continued their struggle against divisional opponents with a 7-4 loss at Milwaukee...Tyler Glasnow surrendered six runs over 0.1 inning in Indianapolis' 10-6 loss at Columbus...Altoona extended their lead in the wild card to four games with a 5-2 win at Bowie...Jin-De Jhang delivered a walkoff home run with two outs in the tenth in Bradenton's 3-2 win 4-3 win against Palm Beach...The Black Bears shutout Batavia 9-0.
