Tarpley: Tossed 8.0 shutout innings and surrendered three hits in 8/15 W @ HIC (9-0 Power)

THE LEADOFF: West Virginia took the series at Lexington with a 6-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon. With the Power trailing 1-0, Jordan Luplow laced a two-run double in the third inning to put the Power ahead 2-1 and Chase Simpson later added a two-run home run to make it 4-1 in the seventh. That was more than enough for West Virginia starter Austin Coley who won his 14th game of the season with a career-best seven innings of work. The right hander allowed one run on six hits over his seven frames. The Power added two more RBIs late in the game on RBI hits from Francisco Diaz and Tyler Filliben. With the victory, the Power finished the road trip with a 4-2 record.

CLAWS AND CLICNHING: The Power return home tonight and play the Lakewood BlueClaws for the final time this season. The Power are 6-4 against the Philadelphia Phillies affiliate this season and can ensure a winning record against Lakewood with two victories. West Virginia leads the all-time series 88-71. These two teams last met from July 30 to August 2 and the Power took three of four.

HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING: West Virginia's offense has had at least nine hits in 17 of the 18 games played this month and have the league's best batting average this month at .314. The next closest team is the Lexington Legends who are hitting .302 this month.

WHOA OH OH, IT'S MAGIC: With the victory on Wednesday, the Power have a magic number of 12 heading into play tonight. The only team in the league who has been eliminated from postseason contention are the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Both Hickory and Lakewood are seven games back.

ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER DOUBLE: Power third baseman Jordan Luplow went 1-for-5 with a two-run double in the third inning of Wednesday's victory. It was the 36th double of the season for Luplow who leads the league in both doubles and extra-base hits (51). With one more double, Luplow will match Josh Bell (2013), Jarek Cunngham (2010). Justin Howard (2011) and David Rubinstein (2010) for the fourth-most in franchise history.

MAN OF STEAL: Tito Polo has 42 stolen bases this season, tied with Brent Brewer (2007) for the second most in any of Power baseball season. Darren Ford stole 69 bases during the 2006 campaign.

KINGSMAN: Jerrick Suiter currently leads the team with a .302 batting average which also ranks sixth in the South Atlantic League. The last player to hit over .300 for West Virginia with enough at bats to win a batting title was Walker Gourley (.304) in 2013. The current batting leader in the league is Asheville's Shane Hoelscher who is hitting .320.

ON TO THE NEXT ONE: The West Virginia Power will unveil their 2016 schedule on August 25. Schedule magnets with the match-ups and dates will be given away on August 31.

During the game, fans can purchase a brown paper bag for $10 with an autographed baseball inside. Autographs range from current Major Leaguers to celebrities and all proceeds benefit Power Baseball Charities.

POWER POINTS: The Power have committed 104 errors this season and are tied with Hickory for the fewest in the league this season. The league record for the fewest errors is 107, set by Augusta in the 2013 season over 137 games... The Power have the most wins (41) at home in all of Low-A ball...Austin Coley's win on Wednesday was in single-season franchise best 14th...West Virginia is one win shy of matching the win total from the 2006 club (74-62)

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh took down Arizona 4-1 thanks to J.A. Happ's six innings of two-hit ball and Sean Rodriguez' three-hit day...Indianapolis was idle on Wednesday...Altoona scored two in the ninth inning but saw their rally fall short in a 9-8 loss against Portland...Wyatt Mathisen went 4-for-4 but the Marauders lost in walkoff fashion to St. Lucie 6-5...Ty Moore scored twice in the Black Bears' 5-4 win versus Auburn.
