CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Charleston RiverDogs increased their win streak to five as they won the first game of the series against the Augusta GreenJackets 5-1 in front of 3,492 fans Thursday night at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

With the game tied 1-1 after the first six and a half innings, the RiverDogs (23-30 second half, 57-66 overall) sent eight batters to the plate and piled on four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Billy Fleming led off with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, and Isaias Tejeda singled to put runners on the corners with one out.

Griff Gordon stepped in and with the runners going, laid a suicide squeeze bunt down the third base line to plate Fleming from third. After a Radley Haddad walk, Devyn Bolasky broke the game wide open with a two-run triple to right-center field. Bolasky scored as well when the relay throw to throw caromed into Augusta's dugout, which made it 5-1.

Garrett Mundell and Brody Koerner preserved Charleston's four-run lead with one scoreless inning each. Dillon McNamara (3-0) earned the win by pitching two scoreless innings in relief of the starter Jordan Foley. Foley went the first five and gave up one run on two hits while striking out eight batters.

Augusta (28-24, 61-60) scored first in the top of the third. Johneshwy Fargas was hit in the head by a pitch and Richard Rodriguez replaced him. Rodriguez crossed home on the next batter Will Callaway's RBI double over the head of Austin Aune in left field.

The RiverDogs evened the score in the bottom of the fourth. Vince Conde, Bo Thompson, and Fleming hit three consecutive singles in a row. Fleming's single drove in Conde from second base.

Augusta's Mark Reyes (7-6) took the loss. The southpaw pitched 6 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on four hits and struck out six for the GreenJackets.

With the victory, Charleston has now tied their season-long win streak and season-long home streak at five games. The RiverDogs won five straight games from April 17 and April 21 and also won five consecutive home games between April 14 and April 25. The previous five-game home winning streak included wins against Augusta on April 14-15.
