Tourists Win in Extra Innings, 3-1

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Asheville Tourists Thursday evening 3-1 at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 1,862.

Asheville scored their first run of the night in the first inning when Omar Carrizales singled to start the game and moved to second on a base hit by Shane Hoelscher. On a double steal, Rome catcher Bryan De La Rosa's throw was mishandled by third baseman Erison Mendez allowing Carrizales to cross the plate for the 1-0 lead. The Braves tied the game in the ninth when Stephen Gaylor was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Luke Dykstra then spoiled Helmis Rodriguez's no-hit bid with a double to left to plate Gaylor for the 1-1 score. Asheville grabbed the lead for good in the tenth. After one out Cesar Galvez walked and scored on Ryan Stephens' triple. Carrizales made it a 3-1 game on a sacrifice fly RBI to plate Stephens. The Tourists held on for the win sending Rome down in order in the tenth.Yoely Bello (4-3) gets the win in relief, Taylor Lewis (0-2) is hit with the loss, and Josh Michalec (27) earns the save.
