Wranglers' two power play goals enough for win
October 26, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
Las Vegas, Nevada- The Las Vegas Wranglers scored two power play goals in the first period of their home opener, and held on for the 2-1 win.
Las Vegas scored two power play goals on six attempts, the first coming just over the halfway mark in the first period, when Todd Alexander put a rebound shot past Utah's Justin Eddy. The Wranglers stuck again with just 18 seconds left in the period, as Derek Edwardson converted a centering pass to make it 2-0 Las Vegas.
In the second period, the teams exchanged penalties and scoring chances, but Eddy and Las Vegas goaltender Marc Magliarditi held the score at 2-0.
The Grizzles managed to get a shot past Magliarditi in the third period when Chris Leinweber scored during a 4-on-4 chance. But the Wranglers goalie denied a Grizzlies comeback by stopping a total of 34 shots during the game for Las Vegas' first win of the season.
Utah plays again on Friday, October 28, at the E-Center, against the Victoria Salmon Kings. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
