Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies in conjunction with the National Hockey League and the ECHL announced today that the Stanley Cup will be at the E-Center Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, when the Grizzlies host the Stockton Thunder.

The NHL is joining with the ECHL, to tour the Stanley Cup to 20 ECHL teams between Oct. 26 and Dec. 17, to help raise money for hurricane relief efforts.

All proceeds will benefit charities assisting in hurricane relief efforts including, but not limited to, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and United Way. This tour is another addition to the National Hockey League's charitable efforts, which have included a joint donation with the NHL Players' Association of $1 million to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief.

Hockey's most famous trophy will be the center of various activities throughout the tour: visits to schools, media appearances and private showings. The "Keeper of the Cup" from the Hockey Hall of Fame also will be available to answer questions and talk about the history of hockey. Fans will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the Stanley Cup and make a monetary donation towards hurricane relief.

"I would like to thank Commissioner Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League, the NHL Players' Association and the Hockey Hall of Fame for their role in raising the level of awareness and assistance for people in both Mississippi and Southeast Texas, two ECHL markets hard hit by this season's recent hurricanes. We encourage fans in all participating cities to come see professional sport's most famous trophy and help in fundraising at the same time," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna.

"The Utah Grizzlies are very honored to host the Cup for an evening," said Grizzlies President Kevin Bruder. "It is a great cause and our fans will take advantage of both opportunities being presented."

Fans can follow the ECHL Stanley Cup Tour by logging on to www.NHL.com.

Tickets for the game are on sale now at the E-Center box office or any Smith's Tix location. Call (801) 988-PUCK for information.
