Barch and Baum assigned to Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC - Greenville Grrrowl General Manager Ryan Stewart announced today that KRYS BARCH and DAN BAUM have been assigned to the Grrrowl by the AHL's Iowa Stars. Barch played for Greenville last season, and has nine penalty minutes in two games with Iowa this season. Baum has played for the Edmonton Oilers' AHL affiliates the past two seasons, and has been with Iowa since the start of this season.
"Getting Krys back is a tremendous boost for this team," said Stewart. "He brings leadership, experience, and a great work ethic to the ice and to the locker room. Dan's a third year pro who brings a great combination of skill and toughness to our team. We're excited to get him in our lineup."
Barch played 55 games in Greenville last year, leading the team in major penalties with 18 and finishing third on the team with 154 PIMs. He had 30 points on 11 goals and 19 assists while playing as an assistant captain. The Guelph, Ontario native played nine games for the AHL's Norfolk Admirals last season, recording a goal and 37 PIMs.
Selected by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round of the 1998 NHL Draft, Barch played for the OHL's London Knights before turning pro and joining the Portland Pirates at the end of the 1999-00 season. The 6-2, 200-pound forward played parts of four seasons with Portland, and spent time with the ECHL's Richmond Renegades in 2001-02.
Barch is scheduled to be in Greenville's lineup this Friday night, as the Grrrowl host the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call 864-233-2525.
Baum was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the seventh round of the 2001 NHL draft. The 6-1, 194-pounder played four seasons with Prince George of the WHL, recording over a point per game and 218 PIMs his final year. He played 37 games with the Toronto Roadrunners in 2003-04, posting a line of 4-6-10 with 154 PIMs. In 48 games with the Roadruners last year, the Biggar, Saskatchewan native had seven points and 206 PIMs.
