Wranglers Sign Forward Shay Stephenson

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Shay Stephenson for the 2009-10 season.

Stephenson, 26, will be entering his fifth professional season and first with Las Vegas. The 6'4 Outlook, SK native spent the 2008-09 season with the Krefeld Penguins of the DEL league in Germany, recording 20 points in 50 games. In the 2006-07 season, Stephenson appeared in 55 games with the Manchester Monarchs, and was called up for a two-game stint with the Los Angeles Kings. A former draft pick of both the Edmonton Oilers (2001) and Carolina Hurricanes (2003), Stephenson spent the 2005-06 season with the ECHL's Reading Royals, posting 41 points in 62 games.

"Shay is a big skilled forward who is a presence on the ice. We look for him to be a go to guy on offense," said Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Ryan Mougenel. "He is a player who's been in the NHL and wants to continue to develop all aspects of his game and get back as soon as possible."

The Las Vegas Wranglers® are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes, and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.

The Wranglers open the 2009-10 season at home on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 7:05 PM against Utah. 2009-10 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located adjacent to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
