
Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre Announces 2009 Subway Super Series Ticket Information

Victoria, BC - The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre announced to today that tickets will go on sale for the 2009 SUBWAY® Super Series on September 29th.
The SUBWAY® Super Series is a special preview of the World Junior Championships. It is an integral part of the identification process for Canada's National Junior Team final selection camp as the top rated Canadian players in the WHL, OHL and QMJHL take on the Russian National Junior Team.
The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre has been chosen as one of six cities in Canada to host one of these prestigious games. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 25th at 7 p.m., and it will be the fifth game of this six-game series.
WHL Commissioner Ron Robison will also be travelling to Victoria in the next few weeks to meet with the local media and take questions in regards to the SUBWAY® Super Series.

Tickets for the general public will be available on September 29th at 9:30 a.m. at the Select Your Tickets Box Office at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, by calling 250-220-7777 or by visiting www.selectyourtickets.com. The Random Line-up Policy will be utilized for this event.
Team WHL improved their record to 11-1 in six years of competition against the Russian Selects with two victories last year including a 5-0 win in Swift Current, SK, on November 26, 2008, and a 2-1 win to close out the series in Prince Albert, SK, November 27, 2008. Team Canada World Junior gold medalists Jordan Eberle and Zach Boychuk were named MVP's of the games.
Last season, the CHL won five of the six games of the series before Canada captured its fifth straight gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa, ON, with a victory over Sweden. All 21 CHL players on Team Canada were selected to regional team rosters for the series. Russia defeated Slovakia to claim bronze with 14 players from the 2008 CHL event on its roster. The 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships will once again be played on Canadian soil in Saskatoon and Regina, SK.
All six games will be broadcast nationally on Rogers Sportsnet with RDS televising both games from the QMJHL.
