Salmon Kings Name Grehan New Athletic Therapist

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announce that they have hired Mark Grehan as their new athletic therapist.

Grehan just concluded his fourth season as the Manitoba Moose's Assistant Athletic Therapist/Assistant Equipment Manager/Visiting Team Liaison. He will replace former Salmon Kings' therapist Dave Zarn who joined the Vancouver Canucks last month.

"We are very happy to have Mark join our team," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison. "He comes highly recommended from Craig Heisinger (Manitoba's Vice President and General Manager), and we are also pleased to see the affiliation chain supporting the promotion of staff as well as players to the next level of their careers."

A Certified Athletic Therapist, Grehan graduated from the Athletic Therapy program at the University of Manitoba in 2004. Prior to being hired as an athletic therapist by the Moose he served as a Dressing Room Assistant for the AHL club in 2004-05.

Last season, Grehan was invited by Hockey Canada to be the equipment manager at both the Deutschland Cup and MLP Cup. He has also spent time with Hockey Canada in 2007 (Women's Fall Festival & Women's World Championships) as well as 2005 (World Junior Exhibition Series).

The Kingston, ON native was also selected to the 2006 AHL All Star Game as an Assistant Therapist and has worked four NHL exhibition games.

Grehan has also worked medical coverage's for volleyball (Canadian National Men's Team), curling (Brier and Canadian Open) and football (Winnipeg Blue Bombers training camp).

Season tickets for the Salmon Kings 2009-10 season are on sale. The Salmon Kings kick off their home schedule on October 21st when the Bakersfield Condors come to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
