Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced that the team has agreed to terms for the 2007-08 season with defenseman Aaron Power. Per club policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.
"Aaron was a huge lift to us in the playoffs last season," said Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "He has one of the hardest shots in the ECHL. It's not just a hard shot, it is also very accurate. He was one of our best defensemen last season and we fully expect more of the same from him this year."
Power enters his fifth professional season overall and his second with Las Vegas. Power spent the entire 2006-07 season with the Wranglers, scoring 25 points in 46 games. Despite missing 26 games due to injuries, Power managed to set career highs in goals (12) and points. The Cambridge, ON native continued his stellar play into the Kelly Cup Playoffs, leading the team in scoring with three goals and seven assists for ten points in ten games.
For his career, Power has suited up 240 times, including 185 games in the ECHL. The 6-0, 200-pounder has 25 career goals and 80 career points, to go along with 238 career penalty minutes. Power has 55 games of American Hockey League experience, most recently with Cleveland in 2005-06. Power was originally acquired by the Wranglers as a future consideration that sent forward Evan Schwabe to the South Carolina Stingrays during the 2005-06 season.
"I'm pretty excited to come back and play again," said Wranglers defenseman Aaron Power. "We had a great run last year and fell short of our goal of winning a championship. The bar has been set pretty high by teams in the past, especially last year's squad. We fully expect to be playing for the Kelly Cup this season."
The Wranglers are expected to make more announcements regarding player signings over the next few weeks. Power joins defensemen Gerry Burke, Jason Krischuk and Jason Jozsa, as well as forward Brandon Kaleniecki as players committed for the 2007-08 season.
