Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Tuesday the signings of forward Justin Cross and defenseman Pat Oliveto. Per club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Oliveto appeared in seven regular season games with the ECHL's Reading Royals during the 2006-07 season, recording one assist, after completing his collegiate career at Niagara University in Niagara Falls, N.Y. In 118 games with the Purple Eagles, Oliveto, a Rochester, N.Y.-native, recorded 10 goals and 46 assists.

Justin Cross joins the Sea Wolves after spending the 2006-07 season with Kalamazoo of the now-defunct United Hockey League. In 73 games, Cross notched 55 points (26 goals, 29 assists) and scored one goal in four playoff games. Prior to turning professional, Cross, a native of Camarillo, California, scored 36 goals and 56 assists in 138 games at Niagara University, where he and Oliveto helped the Purple Eagles earn a College Hockey America regular season championship in 2005-06.

"Pat Oliveto is going to play a big role on the blueline this season," said Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. "He's going to see some time in all situations. Look for Justin Cross to be a strong two-way forward who has a great offensive upside. We're really excited about having both Pat and Justin on the coast this season."

The Sea Wolves training camp opens in 30 days as professional hockey returns to the coast! On Saturday, October 27th the Sea Wolves will celebrate their return to home ice and their 10th season in pursuit of the ECHL's Kelly Cup when they face the Reading Royals at 7:05 P.M. Season tickets are now on sale and sponsorship packages are available by calling 228.275.WOLF (9653).
