Salmon Kings Welcome Veteran Back Into Fold

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team has signed forward Robin Gomez.

The 6'2", 210 lbs Gomez is entering his second season with the Salmon Kings and his sixth in the ECHL. In 19 regular season games with Victoria last season he tallied 5 points (2g-3a) while picking up 66 minutes in penalties and had a plus/minus rating of -1.

"We are happy to have signed Robin for the upcoming season," Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Dan Belisle said. "He brings a physical presence onto the ice that will help create space for his teammates."

This will be the Prince Rupert, B.C. native's sixth professional season. Gomez is considered a veteran by ECHL standards as he has competed in over 260 games (304 games played to date). Each ECHL team is allowed four veteran players on their roster.

"I'm excited to be back this season," Gomez said. "It will great to be able to play in front of my family and friends. This is my sixth year in the league, and I bring both leadership skills and a good work ethic."

Gomez's junior career spanned three years in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He began his WHL career spending two plus seasons with the Calgary Hitmen and finished his last season with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Gomez played in 187 WHL games and notched 62 points (22g-40a).

The 25-year-old's pro career has spanned three leagues (ECHL, American Hockey League and the Elite Ice Hockey League) and has seen him play in 304 games while collecting 58 goals and 68 assists for 126 points and 1100 minutes in penalties.

The Salmon Kings will kick off their fourth season in the ECHL in Idaho on Oct 19, 2007, and will host the Las Vegas Wranglers for the Home Opener Series on Oct 26 and 27.
