Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Stockton, Calif. - Behind 31 saves from rookie goaltender Travis Fullerton the Las Vegas Wranglers took down the Stockton Thunder on Sunday night by a final score of 3-2. The win gives Las Vegas four victories over their last six games, and improves their record on their current six-game road swing to 3-2-0.
For the sixth straight game the Wranglers would get on the board first, this time off the stick of Adam Huxley, who extended his point-streak to three straight games with his seventh goal of the year. The goal, which came at the 9:57 mark of the first period, was assisted by Chris Kushneriuk (1) and Geoff Paukovich (7). The Thunder would tie the game up 1-1 though with just 2:23 to go in the frame, as defenseman Sean Escobedo (4) broke through on the power-play, assisted by Lee Baldwin (13) and James Henry (22).
Just 1:57 into the second period, Chad Nehring would put the Wranglers back on top, burying his 17th goal of the year and eighth over his last nine games. The score, which gave Las Vegas a 2-1 lead, was assisted by Ryan Forgaard (5) and Adam Hughesman (20), who now has eight points over his last five contests.
Chris Kushneriuk (2) would add to the Wranglers lead with a goal of his own, assisted by Shawn Skelly (13) and Paukovich (8), putting Las Vegas on top 3-1. The Thunder would snag one more as Escobedo (4) put home his second of the night, assisted by Baldwin (14) and Ryan Hayes (16), but the Wranglers would hang on, taking the game by a final score of 3-2.
Next up, the Wranglers' six-game road swing concludes in Bakersfield on Tuesday, Mar. 18 against the Condors. After that the team will return back to Las Vegas on Thursday, Mar. 20 to take on the Alaska Aces.
