
Wranglers Edged By Condors 4-3 In a Shootout

Bakersfield, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (26-24-8, 60 points) were defeated in a shootout by the Bakersfield Condors (24-28-7, 55 points) 4-3 in front of 4,505 fans on Sunday night at Rabobank Arena. The Las Vegas defeat extends the team's winless skid to ten games (0-6-4). Condors' forward Mark Derlago scored the lone shootout goal to give Bakersfield the victory. Las Vegas center Tyler Mosienko scored twice and right wing Peter Ferraro also scored in the defeat. Bakersfield's Mike Wiril and Dave Bonk each had three points in the shootout win. Las Vegas goalie Matt Keetley (1-3-2) stopped 36 of 39 in regulation and four of five in the shootout. Bakersfield goalie Yutaka Fukufuji garnered the win, stopping 31 of 34 in regulation and all five Las Vegas shootout attempts. Las Vegas will play in Alaska this Friday at 8:15 PM (PST).
Las Vegas jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead with goals by Tyler Mosienko and Peter Ferraro. Mosienko started the scoring with his 16th goal of the season just 3:19 into the game for the early 1-0 Las Vegas lead. Ferraro scored his 14th goal of the year at 10:04, extending the Wranglers lead to 2-0 after a period of play.
Bakersfield cut the Wranglers lead down to one early in the second period. Winger Mark Derlago scored his 23rd goal of the season just 38 seconds into the period, trimming the Las Vegas lead to 2-1 after two periods of play.
The Condors tied the game at 3:38 of the third period. Forward Mike Wiril scored his 17th goal of the season, tying game 2-2. Wiril scored his second goal of the night and 18th of the season less than two minutes later to give the Condors a 3-2 lead at 5:24. The Wranglers tied the game 3-3 with less than three minutes remaining in regulation. Mosienko scored his 17th goal of the season and second of the night at 17:12, forcing overtime.
After a scoreless overtime, the goaltenders took over in the shootout. Las Vegas goalie Matt Keetley stopped the first four Bakersfield attempts. After Bakersfield goalie Yutaka Fukufuji stopped his fifth straight Las Vegas attempt, Derlago beat Keetley to give Bakersfield a 4-3 shootout win.
The Wranglers continue on a ten-game road trip with a three-game stop in Alaska starting Friday night at Sullivan Arena at 8:15 PM (PST). Las Vegas returns home to host the Idaho Steelheads on March 13th and 14th at 7:30 PM at the Orleans Arena.
