BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - RW Mike Wirll scored twice and added an assist to guide the Bakersfield Condors to a 4-3 shootout victory against the Las Vegas Wranglers, before 4,505 fans at Rabobank Arena on Sunday evening.

Las Vegas (26-24-8, 60pts) took an early lead 3:19 into the opening frame, when C Tyler Mosienko found the back of the net with his 16th goal of the season. The Wranglers built on their lead at 10:04 of the first with a goal from RW Peter Ferraro. Vegas out-shot the Condors 14-12 in the first, and took a 2-0 lead into the second stanza.

The Condors (24-28-7, 55pts) cut the Vegas lead in half early in the second period, with LW Mark Derlago pouncing on a rebound and burying it for his 23rd of the season just 38 seconds in. Bakersfield outshot the Wranglers 15-7 in the period, while holding back the Vegas attack. Meanwhile G Yutaka Fukufuji kept the game close by stopping all seven Vegas shots in the frame.

In the third, the Condors went on a quick rampage to seize control of the contest. Wirll, hot off his hat trick one night earlier, lit the lamp twice in the span of less than two minutes to take the lead. His 17th and 18th of the season, at 3:38 and 5:24, respectively, put Bakersfield in the driver's seat with a 3-2 lead. Mosienko, however, would earn the point for his club with his second of the night, redirecting a shot past Fukufuji in the final three minutes to tie it up and send the game to the extra session.

Neither club scored in overtime, while only Derlago lit the lamp for the Condors in the shootout. But Fukufuji made it stand by stopping all five Wranglers shooters. The Condors netminder is a perfect 12-for-12 in shootouts this season, and picked up his sixth straight victory tonight with 31 saves.
