Wranglers Dropped by Reign, 4-0

Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers suffered another tough loss on Friday night, falling to their division rival Ontario Reign by a final of 4-0. Ontario's goaltender Jussi Olkinuora made 20 saves in the victory, his first shutout of the season, while Mario Lamoureux and Matt White both finished with three point nights for the Reign. The loss extended the Wranglers' winless streak to eight straight games, with their last win coming on Friday, Jan. 31.

Ontario would strike first as Maxim Kitsyn buried his third of the year to give the Reign a 1-0 lead just 7:29 into the first period. The goal was assisted by Adrian Van de Mosselaer (10) and Matt Register (19) and was the first time in four games the Wranglers have not scored first. Just a short four minutes later, Mario Lamoureux notched his team-leading 18th of the year for the Reign, making it a 2-0 game. The goal game 11:57 into the period and was assisted by Sacha Guimond (13) and Matt White (21).

Neither team was able to break through in the second period in what was a tightly played frame, with the Reign narrowly outshooting the Wranglers eight to six. Overall on the night Ontario held a 37-20 lead over Las Vegas in the shooting column, including a 17-6 gap in the first period.

Leading 2-0 midway through the third frame though, the Reign would then add two more to their total. The first came from Sebastian Stalberg (7) assisted by Lamoureux (20) and White (22) at the 10:45 mark in the period. Just three minutes later Lamoureux (19) added his second of the night, assisted once again by White (23) and Steven Tarasuk (15). The two goals gave the Reign a final and ultimate 4-0 lead, their third straight win.

Next up for the Wranglers is the return of the third annual Midnight Circus on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 11:59pm. Las Vegas will be taking on the Colorado Eagles, and the game will be surrounded by unique performances on both the ice and the concourse from some of the cities most renowned entertainers, illusionists and acrobats. Following the midnight game, the Wranglers and Eagles will face off once more on Tuesday, Feb. 18, and the first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive free Wranglers Trading Card sets.
