
Wranglers Defeat Roadrunners 5-3

Phoenix, AZ - The Las Vegas Wranglers (46-10-6, 98 points) beat the Phoenix Roadrunners (19-39-3, 41 points) 5-3 at the U.S. Airways Center on Thursday night. Forwards Todd Alexander, Nick Anderson, Marco Peluso, Dan Tudin and Chris Stanley each for Las Vegas as the team won their sixth straight game. Rookie goalie Mike McKenna made 21 saves, improving to 15-1-1 on the season. Phoenix winger Patrick Levesque notched all three goals for Phoenix. Las Vegas concluded their nine-game road trip with an 8-1-0 record and moved to within two points of idle Alaska for first place in the West Division. The Wranglers return home to host Alaska at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena on Friday night,
Despite Las Vegas striking first, Phoenix jumped out to a 2-1 first period lead. The Wranglers took advantage of a power play with Dan Tudin capitalizing for his 30th of the season at 11:30. Phoenix answered back with two goals of their own. Roadrunners winger Patrick Levesque scored both goals with the first coming at 14:06 to tie the game at one. Levesque notched his second of the night and sixth of the season at 17:35 to give Phoenix the 2-1 lead.
In the second period, Las Vegas turned the tide by outscoring Phoenix 2-1 in the middle frame. The Wranglers tied the game at two when winger Todd Alexander scored his 11th of the season at 4:41. Center Chris Stanley picked off a Phoenix pass and went in to score his 24th of the season on a breakaway at 7:07, as the Wranglers took a 3-2 lead. Phoenix winger Patrick Levesque finished off his hat trick at 15:46, tying the game at three.
In the third period, Marco Peluso propelled the Wranglers ahead with his 15th goal of the season at 6:30. Winger Nick Anderson sprung Peluso in over the Phoenix line. Peluso cut in through the left-wing circle of and snapped a shot past Ryan Cyr to give Las Vegas a 4-3 lead. Right wing Nick Anderson added an empty-net goal with 35 seconds remaining in the game for the 5-3 final.
The Wranglers return home on March 17th to host the Alaska Aces for a three-game series. On Friday March 17th, the Wranglers will wear specialty jerseys for St. Patrick's Day. The jerseys, sponsored by McMullan's Irish Pub, the official Irish Pub of the Las Vegas Wranglers, will be available for purchase through a silent auction on the concourse during the game.
Bright orange "Dick Cheney" hunting vests with the slogan "DON'T SHOOT, I'M HUMAN" will be given to the first 1,000 fans that attend the Las Vegas Wranglers game on Friday, March 17, the Wranglers announced Tuesday. The vest will also feature a Wranglers' logo.
Playoff tickets are now available for the 2006 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Fans may purchase a strip of tickets that will include every home playoff game for as little as $200.00 per seat. Fans may obtain playoff ticket information from the Wranglers' front office by calling 702-471-7825 (PUCK). Wranglers season ticket holders and mini-plan holders have the first right of refusal for their seats.
Tickets for all games are on sale now. Fans may purchase seats to all Wranglers home games at any of the following ticket locations: The Orleans Arena Box Office, Coast Casinos' showroom box offices at The Orleans, Gold Coast, South Coast and Suncoast, or at the Galleria Mall guest relations/ticket centers.
