Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA (March 16, 2006) -Physical forward, Andre Deveaux has been reassigned from the Springfield Falcons of the AHL to the Johnstown Chiefs. Also, Chiefs goaltender, Morgan Cey has been recalled to Springfield of the AHL, Chiefs General Manager Toby O'Brien announced.
In an unrelated move, O'Brien also announced Chiefs forward J.B. Bittner was loaned to Portland of the AHL.
Right wing, Andre Deveaux, 22, is second on the Springfield Falcons with 135 PIM's and led the Falcons last season with 210 PIM's. The native of Welland, Ontario has 11 points, including six goals, in 59 games this season. Deveaux, a 6'3 and 240 pound winger is a physical player.
"He is a tough kid. He plays with lots of jam," said O'Brien.
The Tampa Bay Lightning signed Deveaux, a fourth round draft choice of the Montreal Canadiens in 2002, as a free agent in 2004.
Current ECHL Reebok Hockey Goaltender of the week, Morgan Cey has been recalled to Springfield of the AHL. Tampa Bay Lightning goalie, Sean Burke was injured Thursday in practice, prompting the recall of Springfield goaltender Gerald Coleman to Tampa Bay and Cey, 24, to Springfield.
In 31 appearances this season, Cey, from Wilkie Saskatchewan, is 17-8-5 with a 2.74 GAA, and .922 save percentage. Cey, who is a rookie from the University of Notre Dame, has three shutouts, including last Sunday's 50-save, 1-0 shutout of Reading. The 6'3, 185 pound netminder is 3-1-0 in his last five games, with a 1.42 GAA, and a .964 save percentage.
In an unrelated move, Chiefs forward J.B. Bittner, 23, was loaned to Portland of the AHL. Bittner, from Pittsburgh, PA, is the Chiefs fourth leading scorer with 39 points, including 10 goals in 51 games.
The Chiefs, who have just one goaltender remaining the roster, expect to make another announcement tomorrow.
The Chiefs 2005-06 season presented by First National Bank of Pennsylvania resumed Friday in Reading. The game can be heard on the Chiefs radio network (850-AM, 990-AM), johnstownhchiefs.com, and viewed on B2Now.com. The Chiefs host Toledo on Saturday, and Wheeling on Sunday.
