Two More College Players Added

VICTORIA, British Columbia - The San Diego Gulls agreed to terms with rookie defenseman Mark Adamek and rookie goaltender Kris Mayotte, General Manager Martin St. Amour announced Thursday. Adamek is set to join the Gulls in Victoria Friday, while Mayotte will meet the club back in San Diego Monday.

Adamek, who will turn 24 on May 2, joins the Gulls after completing his senior year this season at Lake Superior State University. In 18 games he notched three assists and six penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2-inch, 190-pounder from Hollister, Calif. played 120 games in four years at Lake Superior, recording 13 assists and 77 penalty minutes. His brother, Mike, also attended Lake Superior and just recently signed with the Idaho Steelheads.

Mayotte, 23, also just completed his senior year at Union College. In 37 appearances this season, he posted a 16-15-5 record with a 2.33 goals-against average, five shutouts and .918 save percentage. In 116 career games in four years at Union College, the 6-foot, 180-pounder from Pittsburgh was 46-52-13 with a 2.69 GAA, 10 shutouts and .907 save percentage. Mayotte holds Union records with most shutouts in a season (five), most saves in a game (58), most wins in a season (16), lowest career GAA (2.69), most saves in career (2,975) and most minutes played in career (6,824). He is second all-time in school history in wins (46).

The Gulls and Salmon Kings continue their series in Victoria Friday and Saturday, with both contests set for 7 p.m. San Diego returns home Friday, March 24 against the Long Beach Ice Dogs.
