
Wranglers add Schoneck as assistant GM/assistant coach

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the hiring of Drew Schoneck (Schen-Ick) as the team's Assistant General Manager / Assistant Coach for the 2004-05 season presented by TahitiPetey.
"We hired Drew to come in on a full-time basis with coaching and hockey administration," said Wranglers General Manager/ Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "Drew comes with a strong background of coaching, having spent three years in the WHL. His experience and work ethic will help me and my hockey staff, as well as make him a great asset to our organization. "
The 30-year old Schoneck will assume the duties of Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager. Schoneck played the final season of his five-year professional career in Fresno last year with the Falcons. The defenseman played in 58 games posting seven goals and ten assists for 17 points, while adding 75 penalty minutes. For his career, the Abbey, SK native played in 252 games scoring 29 goals and 62 assists for 91 points, while racking up 271 penalty minutes. Schoneck won the WCHL's Taylor Cup with Fresno during the 2001-02 season. During that season, he suited up with Wranglers General Manager / Head Coach Glen Gulutzan, Wranglers defenseman Jason McBain and Wranglers Assistant Coach Joe Frederick. Schoneck played for the Canadian National Team during the 1997-98 season, scoring 18 points (4G-14A) in 50 games. Schoneck has a strong coaching background, having assisted for the WHL's Kelowna Rockets, Tri-City Americans and the Prince Albert Raiders. Schoneck was a Player /Assistant Coach during the 2003-04 season in Fresno.
"I'm excited to be joining the Wranglers organization and reuniting with Glen (Gulutzan)," said Wranglers Assistant GM/ Assistant Coach Drew Schoneck. "Last year while playing for Fresno, we used to play against Glen all the time. I remember coming to Vegas and thinking about what a great fan base they have here. We want to build a championship team and reward the fans of Las Vegas with a Kelly Cup."
Schoneck will join current Assistant Coaches Jeff Sharples and Joe Frederick.

Opening Night for the Las Vegas Wranglers 2004-05 season, presented by TahititPetey is Tuesday, November 2nd against the Long Beach Ice Dogs at 7:05 pm. The regular season concludes Saturday, April 9th against the Alaska Aces. The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
