World's Biggest Taco Event Returns to Fresno, July 19-20

FRESNO, Calif. - The ninth Fresno Grizzlies homestand of the 2018 season is scheduled for July 16 through July 19 with four games against the Sacramento River Cats (San Francisco Giants). Tickets may be purchased at the Chukchansi Park box office, or anytime at FresnoGrizzlies.com. Here is a preview of the promotional schedule:

Thursday, July 19 (7:05 p.m.) - Night #1 of Taco Truck Throwdown presented by La Tapatia Tortillas: The kickoff to the world's largest taco event you know and love! Over 30 of the Central Valley's finest taco trucks are open for business, competing for the judge's choice award, as the "Fresno Tacos" take on the River Cats in one of the marquee games of the 2018 season. On the field, Fresno will be wearing special TTT8 threads (see attached image), and the autographed, game-worn jerseys will be available for bid in an online auction at FresnoGrizzlies.com following the game. Proceeds from the auction will benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Central California. Replica TTT8 Fresno Tacos jerseys and on-field caps will be available for purchase in the team store.

Thursday's game will also include a local qualifier taco-eating contest, with the winner advancing to take on the professional eaters in the World Taco Eating Championship, when that event returns to Fresno the following day. DJs and live music on the Tulare Plaza, before, during and after the game as well. The judges' choice award will be announced during the game.

Thursday Happy Hour Special: The best food deal in Triple-A is back for 2018! At every Thursday home game from gates open (6:05 p.m.) to first pitch, fans can order a burger, fries and a 12-ounce beer or soda for just FIVE DOLLARS.

Friday, July 20 (gates open at 5 p.m.) - Night #2 of Taco Truck Throwdown presented by La Tapatia Tortillas: The non-game day portion of Taco Truck Throwdown VIII "The Ocho" will begin at approximately 5 p.m. at Chukchansi Park, lasting until 2 a.m. The evening will include A-list live music, featuring Ramon Ayala, DJ Quik and 40 Watt Hype. The World Taco Eating Championship also returns to Chukchansi Park, featuring several of the planet's top 20 eaters; Major League Eating sanctions the event, the same governing body that presents the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in New York on the Fourth of July. World #2-ranked eater Matt Stonie, the runner up in last year's event, is confirmed for TTT8. Live pro wrestling will also be on the field (Lucha Extreme).

On night two, the taco trucks will be moved onto the warning track, allowing fans to enjoy their tacos and the various entertainment acts on the field at the same time. Throughout Friday night, fans will be able to vote for the peoples' choice award. Tickets for Friday's non-game-day event are $25 apiece.

BE A TACO VIP: There is currently a VIP ticket package on sale for Friday, July 20 ONLY. For $75, VIPs will receive a front row spot for Ramon Ayala and DJ Quik, eight taco vouchers, four drinks, a Taco Truck Throwdown VIII t-shirt and the ability to skip lines and have their tacos delivered via a VIP digital ordering system on their phone (download the "OrdrSlip" mobile app). Monday, July 16 (7:05 p.m.) - Monday Madness, presented by The Fresno Bee: The best ticket deal in Minor League Baseball is back! Fans can take advantage of two Reserved tickets, two hot dogs, two sodas, two Fresno Chaffee Zoo vouchers and two Pieology pizza or salad vouchers, all for just $25!

Tuesday, July 17 (7:05 p.m.) - Toyota Taco Tuesday: The Grizzlies' alter-ego, the Fresno Tacos, take the field! In addition to 2-for-1 (buy one, get one) field box and club tickets, fans will be able to enjoy $2 tacos from Taco Truck Throwdown-approved trucks and "Oppo Taco" on the right field concourse at Chukchansi Park, $2 sodas and $2 churros (specials good through the fifth inning). The team will be wearing the "Taco-uila" Sunrise uniforms which first debuted at last season's Taco Truck Throwdown; a zesty vintage tribute to the Grizzlies' parent club, the 2017 World Champion Houston Astros.

Dos Equis | Dos Tacos: Purchase a 24-oz Dos Equis can and receive a voucher for two FREE tacos from one of the trucks.

Wednesday, July 18 (7:05 p.m.) - "Thank a Farmer" Night, presented by GAR Tootelian: Join the Grizzlies and GAR in a tribute to our Central Valley Farmers and everyone whose "job depends on ag." As part of the promotion, the Fresno Grizzlies Team Store is releasing a limited edition New Era 59/50 GAR fitted cap (see attached image), available only in the team store during the game. Real fans come to games, so grab a cap before first pitch and pay tribute to our local growers.

Wear The Bear Wednesday: Stock-up on fresh Fresno Grizzlies and Fresno Tacos gear for the season; new-for-2018 merchandise is available. Fans will enjoy an automatic 25% off their in-game purchase in the Fresno Grizzlies Team Store on Wednesday home dates in 2018.
