Bees Ready for Post All-Star Push

SALT LAKE CITY - With the first 90 games and the All-Star break behind them, the Salt Lake Bees hope to re-capture the magic that propelled them to an excellent start to the 2018 season.

As it stands right now, with a 45-45 record, the Bees find themselves in second place in the Pacific South Division, trailing the El Paso Chihuahuas by five games.

Coming out of the gate, the Bees were crushing the baseball with power and consistency. The Bees set team records for home runs in April and May while leading the Pacific Coast League in not only that category, but numerous other hitting statistics.

David Fletcher, who has since been called up to the parent-club Los Angeles Angels, was on a tear in his 58 games with the Bees. Despite not being with the Bees since June 13th, his .350 average still tops the PCL rankings. He also is among the league leaders in doubles and has lowest strikeout to total plate appearances ratio in the PCL.

This season has also been a good one for Jabari Blash. He has already received several honors for his efforts this season, including PCL Player of the Month for May and though he did not play in the game, he was named a starter in the Triple-A All-Star Game. His power at the plate has been a key to the Bees' success; he leads the league in home runs with 23. He also leads the PCL in slugging percentage and extra-base hits. The Angels have called him up on multiple occasions this season to help out the big club.

The Bees are also on pace to smash their single-season transactions record with over 200 so far in 2018. 23 players have been sent up to the Angels this season, while major leaguer and former Bee, Kole Calhoun, made a brief rehab stint from June 13-17.

Salt Lake has plenty of exciting promotions remaining on the home schedule. Most notably, the cast of the classic baseball movie, The Sandlot, will be honored on August 10. Much of the movie was filmed in Utah; the actual Sandlot itself is located not too far from Smith's Ballpark. A special novelty 'Hamilton Porter' bobblehead will be available in a ticket package for purchase.
