WORCESTER, M.A. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (23-20, 57-70) earned a series split against the Worcester Red Sox (27-17, 66-53) with a win on Sunday afternoon, a 13-1 final score at Polar Park.

SWB took an early lead and never looked back, plating six runs in their first three offensive innings. They scored three in the first on an Andres Chaparro sac-fly and a two-run double by Carlos Narvaez. Wilmer Difo smashed a solo shot in the second, and Jamie Westbrook hit a two-run shot of his own in the third.

WooSox starter Shane Drohan took the loss, charged with all of those six runs over three innings of work.

In the sixth, Austin Wells hit the first of two homers on the day, a three-run blast to right-center. Two innings later, he added an opposite-field grand slam, the final four runs of the RailRiders' 13 on the afternoon.

Offensively, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre notched 14 hits, seven of which were for extra bases.

Worcester's lone run came in the bottom of the first, a threat that began with a one-out walk from Ceddane Rafaela. After a Wilyer Abreu double, his seventh hit of the series, Enmanuel Valdez delivered a sac-fly.

In the month of August, Abreu is slashing .429/.529/.964 with three doubles, nine homers and 25 RBI.

Andres Nunez and Cam Booser were only WooSox pitchers with scoreless outings-Booser struck out three in a runless ninth.
