Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville Woodpeckers (16-25) tallied just three singles on Thursday night in a 2-0 loss to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (22-20) at Segra Stadium. The loss was the fifth straight, third to Myrtle Beach, as well the fifth shutout defeat of the season.

Jose Fleury (L, 0-3) delivered his longest start of the season, working 5.2 innings while striking out three and not issuing a walk. The Astros 27th overall prospect was tagged four two runs, allowing an Andy Garriola RBI single in the fourth, then balking home a run in the sixth.

Myrtle Beach carried their 2-0 lead to the finish. Marino Santy, Starlyn Pichardo, and Johzan Oquendo combined to go the distance in Myrtle Beach's first shutout victory of the season.

Fayetteville's best chance to score came in the fifth inning. John Garcia, Sandro Gaston and Leosdany all drew walks to load the bases, but Jackson Loftin grounded out to third and ended the threat.

Loftin, Rolando Espinosa and Luis Encarnacion were the only Fayetteville hitters to record a hit in the game.

The series continues Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. The Woodpeckers are projected to start RHP Alimber Santa (1-3, 6.51 ERA) and the Pelicans will counter with LHP Jackson Ferris (0-0, 1.13 ERA).
