Green Bay Rockers News Release

In a back and forth game on Sunday evening in Wausau, the Woodchucks held off the rallying Bullfrogs late and walked-off to win the game 6-5.

The Bullfrogs came out with a vengeance in the first inning, getting on top 2-0 early with back-to-back home runs from Bryant Burleson and Nick Torres. It was the first time the Bullfrogs hit back-to-back homers all season.

Green Bay tacked on another in the second inning with a sacrifice fly from Tom Sawyer to take a 3-0 lead.

The Woodchucks cut into the Green Bay lead with two runs in the second inning off of Green Bay starter Robert Youngdahl, who also hit for himself in the game.

The Bullfrogs held the 3-2 lead all the way until the sixth inning, when the Woodchucks tied it up with one run off of reliever Calen Rohrman.

An inning later, the Woodchucks then took a 5-3 lead with two runs in the seventh inning, also both charged to Rohrman.

Despite the late surge from the Woodchucks, the Bullfrogs rallied for a run in the eighth and another in the ninth to tie the game up at 5-5. Green Bay wound up stranding the bases loaded in the ninth inning, failing to take the lead.

In the ninth, the Woodchucks led off with a single, but reliever Brian Trieglaff promptly retired the next two batters. With two outs and Edgar Figueroa on third base, Wisconsin's Rob Bennie lined a walk-off single to right field, scoring Figueroa and lifting the Woodchucks to a 6-5 victory.

Trieglaff (1-4) took the loss. Austin Orewiler (4-6) earned the victory. There was no save. The Bullfrogs have now lost five consecutive games.

Green Bay will play its final home game of the season on Monday against the Woodchucks with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Come out to Joannes Stadium for Fan Appreciation Night Presented by Cellcom with post game fireworks and Social Media Mondays with KISS FM.

Tickets are still available. Call 920-497-7225 or visit our website for more information.
