
Rox Win 3-2 in Battle against Rochester

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Rochester Honkers were back in action for game two Saturday night as the Rox defeated the Honkers by a final score of 3-2.
The Rox took an early 1-0 lead over the Honkers in the bottom of the first as Clay Williamson was walked on eight pitches to lead off the inning. Williamson then stole second to be followed by Devin Pearson also being walked. Adam Martin would single to score Williamson taking a 1-0 Rox lead.
In the bottom of the third the Rox extended their lead as they earned back-to-back walks to start the inning. Vincent Jackson reached first on a fielder's choice and as Tim Colwell singled Luke Weber would score to take a 2-0 lead over the Honkers.
Rochester answered in the fourth making it a 2-1 lead off a two out single. They would tie the game up 2-2 in the top of the sixth off a fielder's choice.
The Rox would regain the lead in the bottom half of the sixth inning as Clay Williamson singled on one out to start the inning. Williamson stole second and advanced to third on a single by Pearson. Martin hit a sacrifice fly to left field taking the Rox to a 3-2 lead.
Both teams averaged one hit an inning in the last three innings of the game as the Rox sealed the victory in the top of the ninth as Adam Maxon closed out the game.
On the mound for the Rox was Lucas Long as he started the game pitching six innings to earn the win moving his record to 5-0 on the season. Also seeing action was Reese Gregory for two innings and earning the save for the Rox was Adam Maxon as he pitched one inning of work.
The St. Cloud Rox (31-31, 17-10 Second Half) will be back in action on Sunday night against the Willmar Stingers with the first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. from Joe Faber Field.
The Rox will cap off a three game home stand on Sunday night with a mini-bat Giveaway Night presented by Franklin Graphics. The first 250 kids 12 and under will receive a Rox mini-bat. Game time is set for 6:05 p.m. with gates opening one-hour prior.
Coborn's Kids' Day is also going to be taken place on Sunday as kids have the opportunity to run the bases and get autographs on the field after the game.
