Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
Eau Claire, WI - The Battle Creek Bombers (13-16) got strong pitching and plenty of offense to defeat the Eau Claire Express (17-12), 6-0. The Bombers have now won a season high four straight.
The story of the game was Battle Creek starter Kenton San Miguel (W 5-2). After allowing a one out single in the first, San Miguel retired seventeen straight as he took the mound in the seventh inning. San Miguel left in the seventh with the bases loaded and nobody out. Kellen Urbon then retired the next three in a row to strand the runners. San Miguel struck out five in his seven innings of work.
Most of the Bombers offense came courtesy of Matthew Goodson . Goodson hit two homers on the night. For the second time this season, Goodson now has 3 homers in two days. He lifted a two-run shot in the fourth and a solo blast in the eighth. Battle Creek also took advantage of 3 Express errors. Zak Shockley (L 1-4) started for Eau Claire going four innings, giving up three runs and striking out three. The Bombers will go for the sweep tomorrow sending Cam Wysocki (0-2) to the mound.
The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in America. For information on tickets call (269) 962-0735 or visit BattleCreekBombers.com.
