Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - Chance Douglass kept the Express in Sunday's game as long as he could, but Round Rock couldn't solve Mike Wood and couldn't respond to Oklahoma's four-run sixth in an eventual 5-1 loss.

Wood, 7-2 with a 3.14 earned-run average against the league, continued his mastery of the Express, striking out six against four hits and walk over eight innings. The right-hander improved to 3-0 in three starts against Round Rock and has allowed just four earned runs over 20 innings against the Express (1.80 ERA).

Josh Anderson and Mark Saccomanno both picked up triples for Round Rock.

Douglass, still seeking his first win with the Express, allowed a run on three straight singles in the second inning and then held the Redhawks to a single hit over the next three frames.

Oklahoma led the sixth off with three more consecutive singles and a bases-loaded walk to break a 1-1 tie. A sacrifice fly and a Guillermo Quiroz bloop single to right made it 5-1 before Jared Gothreaux entered for Douglass and worked a double play to end the inning.

Round Rock picked up its lone run with one out in the bottom of the second when Anderson tripled to right-centerfield and Saccomanno followed up with his team-leading fourth triple.

The two teams meet for the fourth and final game of the series Monday at 7:05 p.m. at The Dell Diamond. Monday's game marks the Second Annual Christmas In July celebration for the Express. Players will don Christmas-themed jerseys and fans can receive one free general admission ticket to the game by donating a new toy at the homeplate entrance.
