THE STREAK COMES TO AN END
With victories in their first two tilts last week, the Chicago Wolves strung their winning streak to four games before seeing it snapped in a loss to Grand Rapids on Sunday. The team has five days off before its next matchup, when it will face San Antonio in the first game of a home doubleheader this weekend. The two games will close out the season series between the squads, who split a pair in Texas in early December. The Rampage sit one spot ahead of the Wolves in the standings, slotting in at the No. 6 spot (60 points in 50 games) in the Western Conference while the Wolves rank No. 7 (58 points in 51 games), with Texas, Adirondack, and Hamilton close behind in spots 8-10, respectively.
WOLVES HEADLINERS
--- JORDAN BINNINGTON (G): Tied the Wolves franchise record with his 13th consecutive regular-season start on Sunday, tying the mark set by Michael Garnett (March 15 to April 9, 2006) and MATT CLIMIE (Feb. 8 to March 9, 2013) ... Has posted a 7-4-2 record, 2.18 goals-against average, .924 save percentage, and one shutout during that stretch ... Collected his second AHL and third professional shutout with 29 saves against Oklahoma City, the league's second-best offense, on Friday ... Has compiled a 17-10-3 record, 2.33 goals-against average, and .915 save percentage in 30 games for the Wolves this season ... Ranks among the best in the league and among rookies in GAA (17th; 6th), wins (8th; 3rd), minutes (11th; 4th), and saves (14th; 5th)
--- MAGNUS PAAJARVI (LW): Continued to produce with one goal and one assist last week, including the only tally in Chicago's 1-0 win over Oklahoma City ... Has points in nine of his last 12 games, accruing five goals and five assists in that span ... Was held without a shot for the first time in a Wolves uniform on Sunday against Grand Rapids ... Tied for the second-highest points-per-game rate on the Wolves at 0.67 with 10 points in 15 games since joining the team Dec. 30 ... Posted one assist in 10 games with St. Louis (NHL) this season
--- PAT CANNONE (C): Closed out Wednesday's contest against Milwaukee with the clinching goal in overtime during 3-on-3 play, his first game-winning marker of the season ... Extended his point streak to a season-high five games before seeing it snapped on Friday ... Leads the Wolves with 37 points and 26 assists in 51 games this season ... Ranks second on the team and first among forwards with a +11 plus/minus rating ... Serves as one of two alternate captains for the team ... Has set a career high in assists this season and is six points away from tying his most productive AHL season (2011-12)
--- JEREMY WELSH (C): Tied Wednesday's contest with a short-handed goal late in the second period, the Wolves' first tally on the PK since Dec. 12 and first recorded by a player other than COLIN FRASER ... Has three points (2G, A) in six games in February ... Ranks fourth on the Wolves in goals (12) and fifth in points (25), additionally setting an AHL career high in assists (13) ... Is two goals and one point away from tying career-high marks in both categories ... In his first season with the Wolves and third in the AHL (Utica, 2013-14, and Charlotte, 2012-13)
--- ADAM BURISH (RW): Dished out two assists last week to give him points in seven of his last eight games, collecting three goals and five assists in that span ... Saw his AHL career-high five-game point streak come to an end on Wednesday ... Has posted 16 points (8G, 8A) in 32 AHL games this season, nine of which (4G, 5A) have come in 14 games with the Wolves ... Contributed seven points (4G, 3A) in 18 games with Worcester (AHL) this season and three points (G, 2A) in 20 games with San Jose (NHL) ... Joined the Wolves on loan from San Jose on Jan. 14
WOLF TRACKS
--- Right wing SHANE HARPER extended his point streak to a career-high 10 games on Wednesday before being held scoreless on Friday. The 10-game stretch is tied for the highest in the league this season.
--- Defenseman PETTERI LINDBOHM tied his AHL career high with a three-game point streak from Feb. 6-11. The rookie dished out three assists in that span.
--- Left wing NATHAN LONGPRE played in his 200th AHL game on Sunday, 168 of them coming with the Wolves.
--- Left wing YANNICK VEILLEUX notched the lone goal for the Wolves in Sunday's contest, his first since Nov. 15 to end a drought of 26 games.
--- Left wing TERRY BROADHURST registered the opening goal on the power play on Wednesday, his first goal at Allstate Arena this season. His previous five tallies had all come on the road.
--- The Wolves' win over the Barons on Friday was the team's first 1-0 victory since Jan. 12, 2013, at Abbotsford with MATT CLIMIE in net.
--- Despite tallying first on Sunday, the Wolves lost, just the fifth time this season when opening scoring. The team's last loss when getting the first marker came on Jan. 18 versus Rockford and its last regulation loss when getting the first marker came on Dec. 3 at Lake Erie. It is the first time this season that they have lost by more than one goal when scoring first. Chicago ranks second in the league when scoring first at an .840 points percentage (20-3-1-1).
--- The Wolves set one franchise record and tied another on Friday. It was the first time in 21 seasons that an opponent has not taken a penalty against Chicago and tied the record for fewest combined penalty minutes (2) in a game.
--- Chicago's penalty kill has gone 17-for-18 in February and has not allowed a power-play goal at home in 16 straight chances (Jan. 17-present). Their PK is tied for 12th in the league at 84.5 percent (147-for-174).
--- The Wolves went 0-for-4 on the power play on Sunday, the most unsuccessful power plays in one game for the team since Jan. 16 (0-for-4). The squad's power play ranks third in the AHL at 20.9 percent (41-for-196).
--- One season after going 22-7-5-5 in one-goal games, the Wolves are 8-8-5-1 in one-goal games in 2014-15. In one-goal tilts this year, Chicago is 6-1-3-1 at home and 2-7-2-0 on the road.
