Hartford Wolf Pack News Release


The Wolf Pack (28-15-4-3, 63 pts.) had a busy four-game week this past week, and registered five out of a possible eight points, to jump into a tie with Springfield for fourth place in the Eastern Conference and second place in the Northeast Division. The Wolf Pack started the week with a 3-0 loss at St. John's Tuesday night, their fifth shutout-against of the season, and then suffered a 5-4 shootout defeat in a rematch the next night, despite getting a goal and two assists from Chris Bourque and a goal and an assist from Chris Mueller. The Pack rebounded, though, to sweep a home-and-home series from Northeast Division rival Albany Saturday and Sunday. Mueller and Danny Kristo had two goals apiece in a 5-2 home-ice win for Hartford Saturday night, and a late third-period goal by Mueller short-circuited a Devil comeback Sunday in Albany, giving the Wolf Pack a 4-3 triumph.

This week:

The Wolf Pack have another four-game week ahead of them this week, with three of the four games on the road. The Pack visit Portland to take on the Pirates Tuesday night, with faceoff at 7:00 PM, and then move on to Springfield for a 7:00 date with the Falcons on Friday evening. Saturday the Wolf Pack are in Allentown, PA to take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at 7:05, before returning home for a 3:00 game vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday.

Tuesday, February 17 at the Portland Pirates (Cross Insurance Arena), 7:00 PM

- This is the finale of a four-game season series between the Wolf Pack and Pirates. The Pack won a pair of home games against Portland, but then dropped a 3-1 decision in their only previous visit to the Cross Insurance Arena, New Year's Eve.

- The Pirates (26-21-3-0, 55 pts.) are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, two points out of a playoff spot and eight points behind the Wolf Pack. Coach Ray Edwards' Portland club has lost three straight, after an 11-3-2-0 run in its previous 16 games.

- The Pirates' top two point-scorers, Alexandre Bolduc (13-17-30 in 37 GP) and Jordan Martinook (11-17-28 in 44 GP), are both on recall to the parent Arizona Coyotes, but Brendan Shinnimin, who is tied for third on the Portland club in points with 9-16-25 in 40 games, was returned by the Coyotes Saturday

Friday, February 20 at the Springfield Falcons (MassMutual Center), 7:00 PM

- The Falcons (29-18-5-0, 63 pts.), who have a win and an overtime loss in their last two games after losing eight of their previous ten, come into the week tied with the Wolf Pack for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, and second spot in the Northeast Division.

- The Wolf Pack have won the last three games between themselves and their I-91 rivals the Falcons, after shootout losses at home in the first two meetings. In their only previous visit to Springfield, the Pack captured a 4-3 overtime win on January 10.

- Stratford, CT-born defenseman Jamie Sifers had the tying goal and an assist for the Falcons in the third period Sunday vs. Lehigh Valley, as Springfield battled back from a 4-2 deficit to gain a standings point in a 5-4 overtime loss.

Saturday, February 21 at the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (PPL Center), 7:05 PM

- The Wolf Pack have taken the first two games of their season series with the Phantoms, including a 4-2 victory November 1 in their first trip to the new PPL Center in Allentown, PA.

- Lehigh Valley has won two straight and three of its last four, to improve to 24-21-4-1 for 53 points. The Phantoms are tied with Albany and St. John's for tenth place in the Eastern Conference, four points out of a playoff spot.

- Veteran forward Jason Akeson, who has 15-15-30 in 32 games with the Phantoms this year, comes into the week on a nine-game point-scoring streak, having rolled up 7-5-12 during the skein.

Sunday, February 22 vs. the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the XL Center, 3:00 PM

- The Wolf Pack's "Click It or Ticket Family Value Pack" is again featured on Sundays this year. The Family Value Pack features two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for only $35.

- Fans can help the Michael J. Fox Foundation battle Parkinson's Disease by purchasing special benefit tickets to this game. Go to www.michaeljfox.org for information on how to buy the benefit tickets, which are $15 each, with $5 from every benefit ticket sold going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

- This is the Wolf Pack's "Faith and Family Day", with discounted tickets available for all church and faith groups. Discount tickets must be reserved in advance through a Wolf Pack account executive (855-762-6451).

- The Wolf Pack will be celebrating "Hockey Weekend Across America" at this game. Youngsters wearing youth hockey jerseys to the game will receive a special prize from the Wolf Pack. Kids can claim their prizes at the Wolf Pack Prize Den outside Section 124 of the XL Center.

- The Penguins (28-18-2-4, 62 pts.) are one point behind the Wolf Pack in the Eastern Conference standings, and trail first-place Hershey by five points in the East Division, after having gone 8-1-1-1 in their last 11 games.

- This is the first game of a four-game season series between the Wolf Pack and Penguins, and the first of two visits by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Hartford. The two clubs met twice last year, with the Penguins winning 2-1 in a shootout January 3 at the XL Center and 5-3 in regulation January 11 in Wilkes-Barre.

- Penguin rookie goaltender Matt Murray (14-8-2 in 26 GP) leads all AHL goaltenders in goals-against average, with a mark of 1.79, and has the league's fourth-best save percentage (93.2).

The Wolf Pack's home game Saturday, February 28 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be "Salute to Heroes" night, honoring the 35th anniversary of the USA's "Miracle on Ice" Olympic Gold Medal triumph, as well as the public service heroes who keep local communities safe on a daily basis. The Wolf Pack will wear a specialty Miracle on Ice-themed jersey, and the jerseys will be auctioned off in the XL Center atrium during the second intermission, with the winning bidders receiving the jerseys from the players, on the ice, immediately after the game. Proceeds from the jersey auction benefit House of Heroes CT, an organization that provides no-cost home repair services to military and public service veterans and their families. Fans will also have a chance to meet 1980 USA Olympic Gold Medalists Dave Silk and Steve Janaszak, and the first 2,000 fans into the game that night will receive a Wolf Pack flag. Additionally, all military personnel, both active-duty and veterans, can receive free tickets to the February 28 game, by presenting their military ID at the Agera Energy Ticket Office at the XL Center. The offer is for one complimentary ticket per ID. The XL Center's Comcast Coliseum Club will be featuring a new buffet package for all remaining Saturday Wolf Pack games. The menu will include: tender, juicy, endless prime rib, alongside seven premium Saturday-only buffet additions, those being delicious, nonstop peel "˜n eat shrimp, a nightly chef special, fresh vegetables, potatoes, a kids' entree, salad, fresh fruit, antipasto and dessert, all for only $19.00. The Pack's next Saturday home game is February 28, a 7:00 battle against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The first 2,000 fans into the Wolf Pack's home game on Saturday, March 7 will receive a distinctive "double bobble", depicting both halves of the first brother combination ever to play at the same time for the Wolf Pack, Chris and Ryan Bourque. The bobblehead is presented by Team Ferior. Also, the Wolf Pack will be offering a special discount package for the March 7 game. The deal includes four Red-Level tickets to the March 7 bobblehead night, two vouchers for Red-Level tickets to any other 2014-15 Wolf Pack home game, and a mini-helmet autographed by the Bourque brothers. That package is available for only $125.

Once again this season, every Friday-night Wolf Pack home game will feature $1 hot dogs and $2 beers, through the start of the second period. After this Friday night, the Wolf Pack's next Friday home date is March 20, when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms visit for a 7:00 PM game.

The Wolf Pack's "Click It or Ticket Family Value Pack" is available this season for all Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday home games. The Family Value Pack features two tickets, two sodas and two hot dogs, all for only $35.
